A LOMOS DE LA BESTIA - DOCUMENTARY
1. Summarize in a few lines the documentary.
In this documentary we saw the dangers of crossing to USA. People who came from countries of Central and South America have to cross a lot of dangers to find a better life or job for their families. We live in a country where we don´t have real problems for example of survival, but these people try to survive during one or two months, but many of them are killed by the drug dealers for example in this documentary the dangerous Zetas Cartel a Mexican Criminal Cartel that nowaday also trafficks withs people and weapons. When they die, the people who find them don´t know their identities because they are crossing the country illegal.
Going back to the documentary inmigrants avoid crossing near the Zetas but they know the routes of the train being able to blackmail the inmigrants and making them being part of their organization. We also see that some people try to help the inmigrants giving them food, water and a place where they can sleep, they also cure them because some have serious injures. So in summary this video explains us the dangers that inmigrants have every day.
2. Why is the train called the Beast?
Because a lot of people die there, or even, the train amputates an arm, a hand, a leg....
3. What countries are the immigrants from? From Guatemala, Brasil, Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Ecuador and many more countries of South America and Central America Where do they go? They go to EEUU in order to have a better job and future.
4. What is the academic profesional experience of the immigrants? Welders, draftsmen, boilermakers and jobs related with the metal.
5. What dangers do immigrants face during the journey? They have the danger of been stolen, kidnapped, blackmailed, looted and the women rapped.
6. What type of migratory routes are described in the documentary? From Guatemala and El Salvador to Mexico and then to El Paso, which is the border between Central america and USA. In this documentary we also saw that inmigrants had to cross cities like Veracruz, Tapachula, Chihuaha, Hermosillo... before reaching the cities I have said at the beginning.
7. Explain the consequences of migrations for both the countries that send the emigrants away and the countries that receive immigrants?
The consequences for the countries that send emigrants away are:
-They have less population, so money is also spend less.
- If money is spend less, less food, clothes...etc is going to be buy.
- The country suffers the depopulation
- If families emigrate, less children would be born, so many schools, pediatricians, nannies... would also close or dessapear.
-Dicrease in demand
- They don´t have enough workers.
-Some emigrants return with an education
The consequences for the countries that receive inmigrants:
-The opposite of the emigrants countries, the suffer overpopulation
-They aren´t eough jobs for all the people or they give the bad jobs for the inmigrants
-Many inmigrants who don´t find a job join to the drug dealers that give them many monet for doing the bad job
-Racism increase
-Cultural conflicts
-better living conditions for the inmigrants (sometimes)
-Children receive a better education, health and a better life (not always)
8. Give your personal opinion.
In my opinion this documentary is very educative for people of our country, children and adults because as I explain in the first question we don´t realise the dangers that this people suffer. Many of them don´t sleep, eat or drink so they die, but another ones are killed while they are trying to have a better life. As I also say in the first question whwn they die peopl edon´t know their identities so thei families don´t know where they familiars are, if they have achieved the USA, the have been killed or joined to the drug dealers. I think we should help more the inmigrants giving our help and support, because they came to the "perfect countries" for them and finally they are in the same situation of their countries.
