MIGRATIONS
I choose the Central American Route that thousands of people make every day on the back of the beast. This route follows the Southeast-Northwest direction. As it says in the National Geographic link, Europe is not the only part of the world to face a refugee crisis . I think it´s a very interesting route to summarize and with many people´s experiences that can help us to learn more things about the daily life of some poor people.
First I am going to explain why people make this dangerous route:
for living in a new country?
to change life habits?
That sounds good, but the reality is that people want to cross the country because they are desperate and need a new life for them and their families. So they think that in the USA are going to achieve a better life with a good salary and a safe place where they can live with the whole family . Other people however don't want to move their family from their country, and for that reason only one person, for example the father, move to the foreign country, in order to obtain money that will send to his home country to pay the house, the education of their children, medical expenses,... Another reason is the poverty and violence that has developed in their countries. So I think these are the main reasons: ECONOMIC AND SECURITY. Unfortunately many of them die in the attempt.
Now I would explain the route with details. People who came from South America, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras,etc.... would go out of the country and take the better route according to the country where they live. If they live in Honduras for example they would take Veracruz-Matamoros-Brownsville. If they live in Guatemala: México-Mazatlán-Chihuaha-Hermosillo-Nogales-El Paso,if the origin is México, they cross over Mazatlán- La Paz-Mexicali-Tiujana-San Diego. People from Belize have several different routes: México-Monclova-Laredo, or México-Moclova-Chihuaha-Ciudad Juárez-El Paso, or even México-Monclova-Chihuaha- Hermosillo-Nogales-Calexico. Here I put some routes depending of the country of origin and the place where they want to go.
Furthermore, in the last years this routes have been increasingly controlled by the drug dealers towards the USA border, in this documentary they asked some people to explain the situation but no one want to talk about that because dealers are dangerous and they're afraid. Then they were informed about "The Zetas" a mexican drug cartel that has appropriate of all the border and many countries of Central and South America. This organization controlls the inmigrants and their route to kill them or bribe them to change their side, so inmigrants have to be careful of these dangerous people.
Besides in a part of the video we can also appreciate some good people who give water and food for the inmigrants at the long journey they have to support. These women live in a village called "La Patrona" and they name themshelves "Las Patronas". It´s located in Veracruz, Mexico.
Apart from this, a few inmigrants women and men told them about more problems they can found in "The Beast".
For women one of the most important ones are the violations. Many of them are violated by the machinists,"the polleros" and the drug dealers that threaten them if they are not quiet, for this reason it´s very difficult to find someone who wants to speak with them.
Men problems are the threats to their families but they can also be stolen, blackmailed, kidnapped or ever killed.
This type of crimes are the reason why we found plenty of cadavers along the way. Going back into the documentary in one part we saw a man showing lots of dead bodies in a cementery, but the problem is, that we can´t know their identities because they crossed the country with false identities offered them to be safe, so when they die they are unknown.
Finally the few people they reach the border have to overcome another obstacle, they have to jump the wall where "The Beast" finishes its journey.
By comparison with the Europe and Asian route, this one´s more difficult because they have to avoid crossing with the drug dealers and it´s a difficult jounet because they have to stay in a train with many difficulties and try to survive.
According to some recent news of the BBC there are 55,2 million of Latin Americans living in the USA a 17% of the total population, but only half of them can vote in the elections. The top 5 cities with more Latin Americans are; Los Ángeles, Nueva York, Houston, Riverside and Chicago. And the States with more Latin population are; California, Texas, Florida, Nueva York and Illinois.
Here I put a link that shows the Latin population in all the USA.

In my opinion when inmigrants came to our countries we have to offer them a better life not a worse one. Luckily we live in a country where we don´t have real problems to face with, so we have to empathize with the inmigrants and put ourselves in their places. Would we be able to face the journey? How would we survive so much time?
